Special Collections materials used for Charlotte Museum of History exhibit

Images from the Atkins Library's Special Collections are being used as part of an exhibit at the Charlotte Museum of History entitled Charlotte Neighborhoods.  This exhibit is a community-based, design education and advocacy project, centered on an exhibit series that explores Charlotte's neighborhoods, past and present. This exhibit series gives Museum visitors and Charlotte-Mecklenburg residents the chance to explore and analyze a deeper recognition of "community" and promote positive social change.  The exhibit is currently featuring the Center City and will be on display at the Charlotte Museum of History until Fall 2008.

PBS Videos Now Online

UNC Charlotte faculty, staff, and students can now view some of the best and most popular PBS educational and documentary programming online. Nearly 250 PBS programs including the Emmy award-winning series American Experience and Frontline, as well as groundbreaking programs such as Ken Burns' The Civil War, Baseball, and Jazz are now conveniently available as online streaming videos through NC LIVE, North Carolina's virtual library cooperative. Stop by the Atkins Library on Saturday, February 2nd for Parent's Day activities

Be sure to visit the J. Murrey Atkins Library on February 2nd between Noon and 2pm where parents can relax, visit, and check their email over a cup of gourmet coffee and live Carolina folk music. Atkins will have a number of interactive experiences including personal viewing of original, historical interviews from "New South Voices" or taped episodes from "American Experience," "Frontline" and others. Library staff will also be available to walk parents through Atkin's digital resources.
