Donate Food, Have Your Fines Forgiven!

Fight hunger while avoiding overdue book fines from Friday, April 24th through Friday, May 1st. Students may turn in overdue books at the Circulation Desk on these days and have their fines waived if a non-perishable food item is donated. Students are asked to bring at least one food item per book. Please note that pre-existing fines, recall, equipment, reserve and interlibrary fines are not eligible for this program.  UNC Charlotte faculty, staff or students who wish to donate food are also invited to bring in items to the Library during these days.  All food items will be donated to Loaves & Fishes, a nondenominational organization dedicated to responding to the hunger problem in Mecklenburg County.  Some suggested donations are canned fruit, 100% juice, pork and beans, peanut butter, canned meat and soup.

UNCC "SIFE" Awards Won by Two Library Student Employees

Atkins Library congratulates two of our student employees, Youssef Boutaleb (pictured left) and Pasan Premaratne (pictured right) as proud recipients of UNC Charlotte’s SIFE awards. SIFE, Students In Free Enterprise, is a global non-profit organization, offering students the opportunity to work on international outreach business projects. Utilizing the concepts of free-enterprise, students from over 1800 campuses around the world work on projects with faculty advisors and participating businesses to improve the quality of living for millions of people.

Youssef works at the Information Desk and is pursuing a B.S.B.A. in Finance and International Business. Pasan works in Atkins Library’s Security division and is pursuing a B.S. in Business Administration. Well done Youssef and Pasan!
