Presentation Practice Rooms Now Available For Students
 What Is This New Service?
Increase your confidence by rehearsing your class project and research presentations before the big day! Our Presentation Practice Rooms have “Smart Podiums” which are technologically sophisticated podiums installed in many lecture halls and classrooms throughout campus. By practicing with these “Smart Podiums” at Atkins Library, you can ensure your presentation goes smoothly, avoiding potential assignment “pitfalls”, such as trouble with figuring out the equipment, transitioning, and timeframes. Now you’ve got a more powerful presentation!
“Smart Podiums” have many presentation capabilities including:
How Do I Reserve A Practice Room?
You or your group may book either room Atkins 124 or Atkins 125 from our Information Desk in person or by telephone (704.687.2030). Some guidelines are in
place to ensure an effective and efficient experience for all:

Same day booking only
-
Reservation periods can range from 30 minutes to a maximum of 1 ½ hours
-
There will be a ½ hour buffer time before and after each booking – no back to back booking so other people may be allotted practice time
-
Monday - Friday: Available 5:00pm through ½ hour before closing
-
Saturday & Sunday: Available ½ hour after library opens through ½ hour before closing

New Feature: Text Bibliographic Info to Your Cell Phone
You’ve already got enough to do...save time by texting your
bibliographic information to your cell phone. No more finding paper and pencils, or even leaving the information behind – NOT a fun experience when doing your final research paper!
Once you’ve found your bibliographic record in the web catalog, simply press the “Send as Text” icon to the right of it.
The information will automatically be sent to your cell phone.
Done.

Notes: Texting is generally limited to 160 characters per message
Depending on your cell phone plan, carrier charges may apply

Writing Resource Center Summer Hours at Atkins Library
 The
Writing Resource Center (WRC) provides free, one-on-one writing consultation for students, faculty & staff.
Their satellite office is located in Atkins Library Room 109, which is near the front entrance, to the left of the Information Desk.
Summer Hours are as follows:

An online scheduler is now available to make an appointment at
http://rich65.com/uncc. While users may book times in
advance, walk-in appointments will continue to be welcomed. Likewise, faculty
may continue to refer students to the WRC for weekly appointments, which will
then be added to the online schedule.
Note that reservations may be booked online for both WRC locations, Fretwell 220 and Atkins
Library 109.
Atkins library is proud to partner with the WRC, helping
people discover their writing abilities!
